Āmua is a team passionate about developing a fertiliser system that makes sense for farmers, our environment and livestock.
Imagine farms supplying their own nitrogen fertilser, growing more pasture to increase farm returns. At the same time, reducing nitrogens environmental footprint to background levels without any impact to animals. Independant science, animal welfare and agronomy are backing product development, with commercial release early 2027.
Our vision is for pasture-based agriculture to lead global food production & improve our planet’s environment.

We farm in the foothills of the Amuri Basin, grazing replacement dairy and beef heifers for local farmers.
We saw the potential of nitrogen produced by livestock. The problem is right now, there's so much nitrogen in each small nitrate patch that grass can’t use it all.
One day while out shifting heifers we thought, if the whole paddock was covered with the nutrient from nitrate patches, we could grow more grass instead of it being lost. That makes far more sense than importing all of this expensive synthetic urea from half way around the world. By keeping the nitrogen within the root zone, we could grow more grass, save farmers a lot of money and sort the environmental problems.
Local farmers around Waiau and Culverden have worked over the years to see this progress. Farmers from across the country have guided product development. After years of independant soil science research, working with farm advisors, specialist vets and investors, Āmua is on the way to solving one of agricultures most challenging problems.

Product design & on farm development

Inspired by New Zealand’s rich tradition of engineering innovation, I recognised the untapped potential where technology meets agriculture. As a Mechatronics Engineer, I've contributed to pioneering electronic consumer vehicles with local Kiwi companies. Now, I'm applying this expertise to a mission with far greater impact.
Agriculture is essential for feeding the world's population, inefficient fertiliser wastes valuable resources and harms ecosystems. I'm keen to change this with smart technology helping farming businesses.
